Pre flop

The first three cards in Texas Hold'em are called the Flop. These cards are “community cards” meaning everyone will use them in combination with their own hole cards to make the best hand. From the flop on, betting begins with the player to the dealer’s left, who can check or bet. A fourth card is dealt face up onto the board. Texas Holdem poker is almost always played as a No-Limit format, meaning that you can bet as much as you want even preflop since there are no rules to limit the sizing of your bets. For example, if you are playing in a game with $1/$2 blinds, then you have an option to call $2 or raise.

Before cards are dealt to the players, a small blind and a big blind must be paid. The blinds are forced bets to create a pot for the players to compete for. The small blind is the player who sits on the left site of the dealer and the big blind is in seat left of the small blind. The amounts of the blinds are determind before the game starts and the small blind is always half the big blind.

When the blinds have been paid the dealer will deal two cards to each player, one at a time(pocket cards). When the cards have been dealt the player wo sits on the left side of the big blind starts betting. The player can call the current bet wich is the big blind, fold his cards if he doesn't like them or raise the bet. If no player raises the big blind the player who is the big blind can check wich means he doesn't want to put more money in the pot. If a player raises he can not reraise again unless he was re-raised. The round of betting stops when all players have folded or called the last raise.

Flop

Before the dealer deals the flop he has to burn a card, he puts this card face down and it is not used in the game. The dealer then puts three cards down on the table faced down and turns them all faced up at the same time. These are the first of five community cards that the players can use with the two cards they were dealt in the beginning(pocket cards) to make the best possiple poker hand. The player who sits on the left side of the dealer(small blind) starts the betting round. He can check, fold or raise.
